Failure analysis does not always mean that a catastrophic failure occurred. Failure could imply that there is a systemic production issue that comes up. Every manufacturer has production problems, but how does one fix a production problem if you do not understand why the problem exists? Here at Fusion Welding Engineering, we dive deep into each problem we face to completely understand why the issue exists before implementing any corrective action. These investigations are typically a team effort between manufacturers, customers, and Fusion Welding Engineering. We are happy to help solve your difficult production problems.

When more serious catastrophic failures do occur, we can also assist in a complete third-party investigation to determine what the root cause of the failure is. This is typically done with a thorough document review, forensic analysis of the failed component itself, and experimental research to try and recreate the defect. Complete reports are generated for each of these cases and if needed, expert testimonies can be provided.

Welding Procedure and Welder Qualifications:

Qualifying welding procedures can be a daunting task for manufacturers new to industry codes and standards. Our staff at Fusion Welding Engineering have extensive experience qualifying welding procedures to AWS D17.1, ASME Section IX, Navsea tech pub 248, and ISO 15614-1 with notifying body oversite. We can assist you in navigating the qualification process, testing weldments, and completing the written welding procedures.

We can also assist you in qualifying your welders to each of these standards. We reject the infamously stereotype that Welding Engineers “can’t weld”. While we at fusion welding engineering do agree that great welders have to weld all day every day, our welding engineers are hands-on and can give good tips and tricks that will make welders’ lives easier. Our staff has spent years qualifying welders all over the United States and has learned valuable tribal knowledge that is not published in textbooks.
